I had just graduated from college with my degree in Chemical Engineering and was ready to take on the world. My first job, however, was a little less glamorous than I had imagined. I was selling scooter loans. It wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life, but it paid the bills.
Thankfully, my career progressed from there. I soon landed a job in the financial services industry and eventually grew to build large global teams and delivering multi-million dollar projects. At each step of the way, I had some wonderful people who helped me to discover my potential to do more and be more. They believed in me when I didn’t always believe in myself.
And sometimes I wonder, what if those people hadn’t been there for me? What if I hadn’t had the opportunity to grow and develop my skills? Where would I be today?
Find your mentors, coaches, and cheerleaders. These relationships will help you reach your potential and achieve your dreams. And never forget to pay it forward. Be the person who helps others to discover their own potential.
